Chairman Report 2004-2005 Annual General Meeting Hong Kong Physiotherapists' Union
The new executive committee was formed during March of 2003. We have seven volunteers who were willing to serve as the executive members. They worked in a variety of physiotherapy facilities such as nursing homes, non-government organization as well as public and private hospitals. We believed this representation would facilitate our service effectively.
The executive committee members of 2003-2005 are as follow:
Chairman: John Chung Vice-chairman: Kwok Wai Kuen, Wilfred General Secretary: Wu Wai Sang, Wollo Financial Secretary: Sze Ching Yee, Anne Membership Secretary: Siu Yuet Kwan, Aggie Editor in Chief: Lee Ho Wai, Ray Welfare/Public Relation Secretary: Fu Tak Yan, Nora
The objectives of the Committee were established as follow:
1. To promote excellence and the image of physiotherapy in Hong Kong.
2. To improve members!| welfare.
3. To be concern about the employment of physiotherapy graduates and members.
4. To liaise with other physiotherapy organization in order to establish cooperation for further professional development such as direct access and continuous professional education.
The major activities and events during the last year were summarized in the following table. Most importantly, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of the executive committee members (2003-2005) and the editorial members (2003-2005), for all their marvelous work during the last two years.
Finally, we are confident that the new executive committee 2005-2007 will continue to strive for the best interest to our profession and our Union members.
2004-2005 Annual General Meeting Hong Kong Physiotherapists' Union
The major events and activities conducted in 2004 were highlighted as follow:
| January 2004 | Attended the second meeting of the Physiotherapy Working Group to
study issues related to the practice of physiotherapy regarding the
issue of physiotherapy services delegation.

| | March 2004 | Conducted questionnaire survey to collect members opinions regarding
the new PT master program to be established in China organized by the
Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
| | April 2004 | Collected information regarding the patient to physiotherapist
ratio in oversea countries to demonstrate the high demands of PTs in
Hong Kong.
| | May 2004 | Provided educational talks for Occupational Safety and Health Department
Handling the issue regarding staff cut in NTE cluster
| | June 2004 | Organized an education seminar on Spinal Traction
Organized a continuing education course: The Personal Trainer

| Cooperated with the SKH Holy Carpenter Church District Elderly Community Center to run a knee assessment program.
Handling the issue regarding the PT title change in Tung Wah Group of Hospitals

Established
an administrative policy on providing physiotherapy service to
not-for-profit organizations and commercial organizations
| | September 2004 | Established the 'Continued Education Point Scale System' for the educational courses organized by HKPU
| | October 2004 | Attended the second CPD forum organized by the Hong Kong PT Board on 13.10.2004
Negotiated with the ING Insurance company regarding the professional liability insurance
| | November 2004 | Attended the third meeting of the Physiotherapy Working Group to study
issues related to the practice of physiotherapy regarding direct access.
Attended an informal meeting with the new legislative council member, Dr. Lee Kwok Lung to establish working relationship
| | December 2004 | Preparing the AGM (2004-2005)
Initiated the Professional Indemnity Insurance Scheme with ING Life Insurance Company
